Tasting fruits!!!

In recent years Peru has been considered the best gastronomic destination. It makes many people come from all over the world to taste delicious Peruvian dishes. We have a variety of potatoes, chilis, corn and so on. But not only that, we also have different types of healthy and yummy FRUITS from the three regions that Peru has.
Below, we present some fruits that are grown in Peru, the country of a thousand flavors.

 


1. THE COAST

Avocado: Peru is the second country that export a lot of avocados to the world. It is known as "Palta". It has a soft texture and delicate flavor. It decreases blood cholesterol and helps to regulate sugar.

Limon: It has a very strong and sour flavor. We use lemon to prepare The delicious "Pisco Sour" and "Ceviche". Its great contribution of vitamin C helps to reinforce the defenses, avoiding and helping to fight many diseases such as flu.

Granadilla: It belongs to the passion fruits family. It is very sweet and very good for the stomach. It is a natural tranquilizer and controls the acidity.



2. The Andes

Chirimoya:This is a very sweet fruit. When it is ripe it falls down because it is heavy. There is a place called Callahuanca east Lima where we do a competition of who has the biggest Chirimoya. I have seen one the same size as a Papaya. It gives us high amounts of vitamin C, a natural antioxidant that helps the body to resist infections.

pepino dulce: If we translate pepino into english it means cucumber, so It is a sweet one. It is the juiciest fruit in Peru. Consuming this fruit daily helps reduce blood pressure which helps us avoid suffering cardiovascular disorders and even heart attacks.

Pacae: This is a weird fruit because when you open it, it looks like a cotton. This fruit is well-known for preventing diabetes.

Lúcuma: It is considered one of the oldest fruits in Peru because archaeologist found the seeds in a very old archaeological site northern peru called Caral. It looks like an avocado and the flavor is like a sweet potato. This fruit increases the level of hemoglobin in the blood.

Tunas: It is a cactus fruit. It grows in the coast and also in the andes. There are different beautiful colors like green, purple, orange, pink, and so on. It contains approximately 15% carbohydrates of good quality and is alkalizing.




3. The Amazon

Pitahaya: This is one of the most expensive fruits. One of the benefits is to help in weight loss. 90% of the fruit is composed of water and is rich in iron, calcium and phosphorus. The seeds, which are edible, contain beneficial fatty acids.

Cocona: Locals in the Amazon prepare some delicious drinks with this fruits and also an special sauce made with "Charapita chili pepper" (the hottest chili in Peru). This fruit is rich in iron and vitamin B5

Aguaje: It has high levels of vitamin A and oleic acids very important in human nutrition, in addition to anticancer properties.
