BUILDING A WAY HOME! (PART 1)
Winter is starting in Lima (Perú) and in the heights of Cerro Azul the humidity is very high (80 to 95%). In this conditions families live here, and the materials used for their houses are not the appropriate for this kind of weather and they depreciate very quickly. Families look for ways to prevent the cold weather affect them but it is difficult without other materials that the ones that they found easy and cheap (thin wooden slats, plastic, paperboard.).
There's a family who lives in a house that is in very bad conditions, and it is very small for all to live in. There is no stairs the way up to the house and the mountain is mostly limestone that makes a dangerous way up and down from it. Cause the humidity is so high all the paths ares now soggy.
So last Sunday Reciprocity team went to "Cerro Azul" community to help in the construction of a house. Is a new house for this family to move in, but its a long way to go. First, I want to thank Ricardo (Spain) and Allen (Philippines) that came as volunteers to help in this project.
Now the new lot for the house was not completely flat so that is the first thing we needed to do. Then we needed to expand the lot a little for the construction to take place. Special thanks to the locals that helped.
We will continue to work hard!
