BALLESTAS ISLANDS & PARACAS NATIONAL RESERVE!
We know it's hard to wake up very early in the morning, but this tour is worth it!
Taking the Pan-American Highway we go straight to the south!
On the way of approximately 3 and a half hours we can observe the different capricious landscapes and natural formations of the Peruvian desert. This time we talk about life in the Ica region and its towns of Chincha, Pisco, Paracas, etc. The view is awesome!
When disembarking we go to the National Reserve of Paracas to visit its wonderful beaches and enigmatic desert. This Reserve was created in 1975 with the intention of protecting the fauna and ecosystem that surrounds its 335,000 ha.
We first visited the fossils that are exposed in the middle of the desert, dating back 36 million years! then we visited one of the most unusual rock erosions, La Catedral, which is located in front of an imposing cliff, home to the red-headed vultures. Here begins a tour of the most beautiful beaches of southern Peru, the gray beach, red beach and the Yumaque.
Throughout this territory our ancestors settled, cultures that have left a rich heritage, such as the Nazca and Paracas.
After this amazing adventure we visit a local restaurant where we can find a great variety of traditional dishes, being the big stars the fish and seafood. A total experience in Ballestas and Paracas.

We arrived at the beautiful Puerto del Chaco where a large boat took us to visit Las Islas Balllestas. In the boat tour of 2 hours we were stopped by some mysterious lines called The Candelabro, which to this day continues to intrigue scientists and specialists, as well as its date as by its origin. Then we witnessed the impressive beauty of the Peruvian sea and its incredible marine fauna. Thousands of birds flying over us, in front of the giant guano islands and their rock formations where many families of friendly sea lions rest (we can almost touch them! how close they are!) We learned a little about their lifestyle and habitat. We have to mention the experience of seeing our friends The Humboldt Penguins, little ones that live in hot water!
